Chisinau, August 16 /MOLDPRES/- Five universities from Moldova have been accredited at the European level, which allows the recognition and compatibility of the diplomas issued by them in the countries of the European Union.
Accreditation was granted for a period of five years for the State University of Moldova, the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova, the State University Alecu Russo from Balti, the State University Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu from Cahul, the Academy of Music, Theater and Fine Arts.
The accreditation was done by the Romanian Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ARACIS), being preceded by the self-evaluation and evaluation of the quality of the institutions. The preparation for this process took more than two years and was part of the ERASMUS+ project, QFORTE, co-financed by the European Commission.
To obtain accreditation, higher education institutions in our country developed and approved institutional strategies for quality assurance, strengthened their quality departments. ARACIS organized training for teaching staff from the institutional quality assurance departments, to support them in the preparation of self-evaluation reports.
"The international accreditation of Moldovan universities is another step forward towards the internationalization of our study programs and the attraction of a greater number of foreign students. Universities must be more attractive internationally, they have more resources to invest in better conditions and offer a better quality of studies", says Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun.
In the evaluation process, ARACIS analyzed the activity of university management, teaching, scientific-didactic and research staff. At the same time, the quality of teaching, the objectives and development strategies of the universities were evaluated.
According to the Ministry of Education and Research (MEC), among the recommendations put forward by international experts is ensuring the visibility of institutions at an international level, including by increasing the number of students and staff who are on academic mobility, and strengthening the language policy of the institution by offering courses of foreign languages at all faculties.
In 2019, the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Nicolae Testemițanu" obtained international accreditation from the Independent Agency for Accreditation and Rating in Astana, Kazakhstan (IAAR).
