Chisinau, 6 September /MOLDPRES/ - Belgium opens its embassy in Chisinau. The building will be inaugurated today, with the participation of the Moldovan diplomacy head, Nicu Popescu, and Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs, Foreign Trade and Federal Cultural Institutions of Belgium Hadja Lahbib.
The two officials held a news conference, during which they informed that the new embassy would facilitate the commercial relations between the two countries and would strengthen the bilateral relations.
„We have a closer than ever relation between Moldova and Belgium and we want to contribute to its strengthening. We want to have good relations with all European Union member states and the presence of Belgium in Chisinau will allow us advancing in this sector. Today, we tackled essential subjects related to our bilateral relations and, first of all, we discussed the European aspirations in the process of Moldova’s accession to the European Union. We benefit from Belgium’s support and commitment, as well as from the determination of Mrs. Minister to help Moldova. I presented, in general, information on the stage in which Moldova is found in the process of fulfillment of the European Commission’s recommendations,’’ Popescu said.
The Moldovan diplomacy head noted that Moldova relied on the assistance of Belgium in the accession process, especially as this state will take over the EU’s leadership.

She congratulated the authorities for the courage with which they coped with the challenges triggered by the war in Ukraine and assured them of support in this process.
