Moldovan parliament nominates new member of Central Electoral Commission

Chisinau, 27 June /MOLDPRES/ - Mircea Catirau is a new member of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC). Sixty MPs voted for his candidacy.
Mircea Catirau was put forward by the faction of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), after the position had remained vacant following the leaving of Alexandr Berlinschii. Catirau graduated from the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University from Iasi, Romania, and worked at the Infrastructure and Regional Development Ministry and Finance Ministry.
Mircea Catirau was appointed to the office of CEC member till the expiration of the current mandate of the Commission.
The Central Electoral Commission is made up of nine members, of whom eight are nominated by the parliament, with the observance of the proportional representation of the majority and the opposition.
