Chisinau, 3 November /MOLDPRES/ - Over 1 million 285,000 electors voted till 16:00, which represents a voter turnout of over 43 per cent. The voter turnout is higher at this hour than at the first round of the ballot. At that time, over 1 million 143,000 electors voted, or 39.4 per cent of all voters included in the electoral lists.
According to the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), a higher voter turnout is recorded abroad, where over 200,000 electors voted till 16:00. At some polling stations, the number of electors who have already voted is pretty large.
„CEC printed and sent by 5,000 ballot papers to most polling stations abroad. Thus, we urge our citizens to go to exercise their right to vote at the nearest polling station, where a larger number of ballot papers are available. The information can be consulted in the application www.diaspora.cec.md,’’ CEC president Angelica Caraman said at a news briefing.
Also, there are two polling stations which ended their work, the one from Tokyo (Japan) and Beijing (China). Eighty four and, respectively, 43 electors voted at these polling stations. By 16:00, all polling stations were opened, without hindrances, on the eastern coast of the United States.
In Moldova, the polling stations opened at 7:00 and will close at 21:00.
