Chisinau, Jan. 5 /MOLDPRES/- Government Crisis Cell informs that for January 4-5, the electricity consumption is fully ensured for the right bank, without the need to activate the emergency contracts. At the same time, on the left bank, the volume of energy produced by the MGRES/Cuciurgan power plant and the Dubasari hydroelectric power plant is not sufficient, and hourly disconnections are being carried out, the government's communication department has reported.
For January 4, the electricity consumption for the right bank was fully covered on the basis of commercial contracts, the sources used being as follows: electricity import (RO) - 50.38%, Termoelectrica - 29.64%, renewable energy - 14.11%, CET-Nord - 4.76%, NHE Costești State Enterprise - 1.11%.
For today, January 5, Energocom informed about the reservation of sufficient commercial capacity at the border with Romania to cover the consumption needs. Thus, it is not necessary to activate breakdown contracts and/or unintentional flows. At the same time, no faulty disconnections of electricity grids, generating units and/or consumption sites have been recorded.
In order to further ensure the stability of the power system and the continuous supply of electricity, residents are urged to consume electricity rationally, especially during peak hours.
In the natural gas and thermal energy sectors, production units are operating normally as scheduled and there have been no breakdowns or incidents.
As regards the electricity supply to the left bank, there is an acute shortage of energy and in order to avoid overloading the network, disconnections are carried out hourly. For this purpose, the territory of the region would have been divided into 16 groups. Disconnection intervals are increasing, from one hour on January 3, three hours on January 4, up to four-hour outages planned for January 5. At the same time, several measures have been taken to reduce consumption, including switching off street and decorative lighting after 20:00.
The villages of Copanca and Varnița, which are under the control of the constitutional authorities, were also affected. The central authorities are in constant contact with the mayors of the localities affected by the disconnections to exchange information on the situation in the region. Police, medical and emergency services are ready to provide support to people who will need help.
Electricity for the left bank is currently provided by the MGRES/Cuciurgan coal-fired power plant and Dubasari hydropower plant. According to publicly available data, MGRES has coal stocks that will last until approximately the end of January.
