UK to support Moldova in diversifying markets for domestic products

Chisinau, 30 October /MOLDPRES/ - The United Kingdom will support Moldova in diversifying markets for domestic products and their alignment to EU standards. Director- General of the National Agency for Food Safety (ANSA) Ion Sula and British Ambassador to Moldova, Mr Phil Batson tackled the subject at a meeting on 29 October.
Ion Sula said that 85 per cent of the Moldovan legislation on food safety had already been adjusted to the European one. The director added that the presence of the Agency in all districts of the country, border crossing points and customs terminals allowed enhancing the food safety of products and facilitated exports. Ion Sula presented the e-ANSA concept, which will allow access to all necessary information and will reduce the period of time for issuing the documents for beneficiaries.
The ambassador of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Moldova stressed that he appreciated ANSA's efforts and would provide the needed support to the institution. The officials also discussed possibilities for the British government to totally or partially finance to strengthen the institutional capacity of ANSA.
According to a press release by ANSA, the institution benefits from the support of the British government through the Twinning project, with the help of the Food and Environment Research Agency, which organises seminars and workshops for more subdivisions of the institution.
