Chisinau, 23 December /MOLDPRES/ - The priorities and the measures needed for ensuring the citizens’ security on the period of the winter holidays, as well as the management of eventual disconnections from power supply have been discussed at a working meeting chaired by Prime Minister Dorin Recean and ministers, directors of the main agencies, institutions in charge and energy companies, the government’s communication department reported.

„Public order, safety in traffic, support for the citizens who come home from the Diaspora and care for the people at risk are just some of the obligations of the institutions on this period,’’ the PM said. To ensure a good management of these aspects, Prime Minister Dorin Recean also referred to the authorities’ tasks for each field separately.

Thus, the Interior Ministry (MAI) will boost the patrol on public roads and at festive events and will manage the road traffic in agglomerated areas. At the same time, the use of fireworks will be monitored and the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations will be in charge of the prevention of fires and other situations which would endanger the citizens’ security. At the same time, the Border Police will cooperate with the authorities from the neighbour countries for the management of the flows of passengers and will enhance the capacity of teams at the border crossing points.

The Regional Development and Infrastructure Ministry will be in charge of the full preparing of the road infrastructure, cleaning and maintenance of roads. Also, decision-makers will ensure the efficient work of the airport and the flow of passengers, including of the citizens who meet travelers.

Measures of prevention on personal safety in the use of heating sources, as well as pyrotechnical materials will be promoted in education institutions. Another measures concern the providing of support to the Diaspora citizens for the issuance of documents urgently, as well of the support needed for the people at risk and of the disabled ones. At the same time, the National Food Safety Agency (ANSA) will be in charge of the ensuring of the control of products’ quality.

PM Dorin Recean touched upon the measures necessary in the case of eventual disconnections from power supply. In the lack of the electric energy, the hospitals and medical units will work uninterruptedly; the schools will switch to generators and the authorities will cooperate with the mobile telephony operators, in order to guarantee the connectivity in emergency situations.

„We are prepared for any scenario possible and the plans on the country’s destabilization will fail. Starting from 26 December, a Crisis Cell will be activated at the government’s headquarters, so that we make sure that we efficiently manage any emergency situation.’’ PM Dorin Recean said.

Starting from 16 December, the emergency state was established in Moldova. It is worth mentioning that Moldova runs the risk of being seriously hit by a humanitarian crisis, if Gazprom ceases the deliveries of natural gas to the Transnistrian region. According to the authorities, this situation might lead to a humanitarian crisis on the left bank of Dniester, where 300,000 citizens live; also there are major risks for the stability of the energy system, as well as economic disturbances.
