PACE assesses changes in Moldova in recent years

Chisinau, 5 November /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Iurie Leanca met the delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), led by Jean-Claude Mignon. The sides discussed the implemented reforms, aimed at aligning Moldova to European standards, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
Iurie Leanca thanked the delegation members for their support for Moldova. "Any contribution of the Council of Europe is important for the promotion and implementation of reforms in our country," said the prime minister.
For his part, Jean-Claude Mignon stressed that PACE would take all steps for free and fair elections to be held on 30 November. The PACE delegation members appreciated the changes in Moldova during the last years.
The delegation is paying a visit to Moldova on 5 - 6 November to assess the way the electoral campaign is carried out and the political climate in the country.
The agenda includes meetings with the country's leadership, representatives of the Central Electoral Commission, leaders of political parties registered in the campaign and representatives of NGOs.
