EU to offer 37 million euros for public finance policy reforms in Moldova

Chisinau, 7 November /MOLDPRES/ - The European Union will finance the Support to Public Finance Policy Reforms in Moldova. An agreement to this effect was approved by the government today.

The overall objective of the programme is to contribute to sustainable economic growth, maintaining fiscal and macroeconomic stability and poverty reduction in Moldova. The total cost of the program is 37.1 million euros. Up to 33 million of this sum represents a grant for budget support and another 4.1 million euros for technical assistance to implement the programme.

The programme will support the government, parliament and the Chamber of Auditors in the process of strengthening good governance, effective fiscal policy and lead to improving the public finance management system.

The Support to Public Finance Policy Reforms in Moldova provides for a allocation of the grant to support the budget in four instalments for fiscal years 2014-2018. The first instalment is a fixed one, planned to be disbursed in 2014, the following will vary.
