Moldovan government approves financing agreement of support programme on creation of Free Trade Area with EU

Chisinau, 7 November /MOLDPRES/ - The government today approved the financing agreement for the Support Programme on the creation of the Free Trade Area with the EU. This programme will help public institutions, citizens and the business community to make full use of the open European market for Moldovan products, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The document provides for the European Union granting assistance amounting to 30 million euros for 2014 - 2017. A sum of eight million euros will be amounted from the total by the end of the year.
Implementing the provisions of the Agreement will contribute to the modernisation of the legislation and regulation of the overall framework on quality infrastructure, particularly standardisation, metrology, conformity assessment, market surveillance, including industrial, non-industrial products and services development and diversification of market conditions and increasing competitiveness of small and medium enterprises.
Prime Minister Iurie Leanca and European Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn signed the document on 6 November in Chisinau. The EU delegate was in Moldova during his first overseas visit in this quality.
