Moldovan government to provide indemnifications to more apple producers

Chisinau, 8 November /MOLDPRES/ -The cabinet redirected 16 million lei to compensate losses inflicted to the producers of early apples, as a result of the embargo to import to the Russian market, the government's communication and media relations department has reported.
The money is provided from the means initially planned for plum producers and remained unrequested after all eligible applicants got the compensations from the state. The plum producers were indemnified by 1.20 lei per kilogram. Thus, after providing the indemnifications, the amount of 16 million lei, which will be redirected to the apple producers, remained unrequested.
So far, the apple producers have received compensations for 60,000 tons. Those 16 million lei will cover damages for another 11,000 tons.
The farmers receive from the government by 1.5 lei per kilogram of early apples, after they could not sell their products in Russia, as a result of the embargo imposed by Moscow, in past summer.
