OSCE trains Modovan jugdes, prosecutors in fighting family violence

Chisinau, 12 November /MOLDPRES/ - A group of Moldovan judges and prosecutors today completed the OSCE training on capacity building of the Moldovan judicial system on preventing and combating family violence, according to a press release by OSCE.
„The family safety contributes to the society's safety. This is the reason for which OSCE pays as much attention to the problem of fighting against family violence as to other safety issues,” the head of OSCE Mission to Moldova, Ambassador Michael Scanlan said.
During the three-day seminar, organised in partnership with the Centre for Women's Rights and National Justice Institute, those 25 officials were trained by four specialists of the Lawyers for Human Rights American NGO. The training focused on implementing provisions of the civil and criminal laws in cases of family violence, reconciliation and mediation, rehabilitation of aggressors and justice reform in the area of family violence.
The action's goal is that, within a string of national seminars, participants share the knowledge gained during the training with their Moldovan colleagues. The seminar is part of a project on fighting violence family in Moldova. it is based on the previous training programmes, created in order to increase the capacity of judges, prosecutors, lawyers and police officers to provide juridical assistance to victims and efficiently examine the cases of family violence and human trafficking during law suits and criminal trials.
