Chisinau, 12 November /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Iurie Leanca attended a show in the memory of dear departed Moldovan poet Dumitru Matcovschi – 75th anniversary, late in the evening. The event took place at the Nicolae Sulac National Palace. Thousands of people came to pay a homage to the poet, the government's communication and media relations department has reported.

The show's goal, titled „He knew the high fly, longing and cry”, directed by Alexandru Vasilache, scenography by Iurie Matei, was to recall the memory and masterpieces of the writer. Sequences of shows, poem recitals and music on the verses of the poet were also shown during the event.

„He wrote as sensitive, deep and significantly, regardless if he composed a play in which he reminded us our history or confronted us with the times troubles, journalism in which he attacked the stringent problems of the day or love poem… A huge love for people and his country. Namely this masterpiece, which was wrote with a lot of pain and passion, we committed to preserve and promote when we declared the year 2014 as the Year of Dumitru Matcovschi. I want to believe that we managed to keep our engagement,” Leanca said.

Leanca also talked about the fact that by the example of his life, Dumitru Matcovschi continued to give a respectable lesson to the today generation, as well as to the next ones: „He is successful as … he has never been just a poet. He was among the fewer Moldovan artists with civic consciousness. Just one thing remains for us to do - to read him and not to betray his credo! Let's watch our backs in these tumultuous, decisive and worrying times and not forget „who I am, who you are, who he is”. The memory is our single chance to leave behind the past and to choose correctly our future - a future of liberty and dignity”.
