European Parliament ratifies Moldova-EU Association Agreement

Chisinau, 13 November /MOLDPRES/ - European Parliament today ratified, by majority of votes, the Moldova-EU Association Agreement in Brussels.
The
document’s ratification was carried out within a plenary meeting of European
Parliament. Attending the event was also Parliament Speaker Igor Corman.
Rapporteur
of the European Parliament for Moldova-EU Association Agreement Petras Auštrevičiu said that “European
future was always meant to Moldova” and that “the today’s event represents the culmination
of work by Moldova and the EU for carrying out the joint action plan and
implementing the reforms”.
European
Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy Johannes Hahn said that “the
document’s ratification represents a major achievement both for Moldova and EU,
and important to increase transparency, economic growth, back stability and
prosperity of Moldova”.
The Moldova-EU Association
Agreement was signed in Brussels on 27 June 2014. Subsequently, it was ratified
by the Moldovan parliament on 2 July.
The
document will enter into force after its ratification by the parliaments of the
28 EU member states. So far, this procedure has been carried out by Romania,
Bulgaria, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Malta and Slovakia.
