Moldovan farmers who did not receive subsidies for 2014, to receive them in 2015

Chisinau, 14 November /MOLDPRES/ - Requests for subsidies in agriculture, unfunded this year due to lack of financial resources, will be funded from the Agricultural subsidies fund for 2015, according to a decision approved by the government today.

The decision was taken in the context of the deficit to cover all requests for subsidies received throughout 2014. According to Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Vasile Bumacov they amount to about 250 million lei. "This action is necessary to ensure the further smooth running of the process of modernisation and financial support of the agricultural sector and of farmers who have invested in the agribusiness sector," said Vasile Bumacov.

The Agency for Payments and Intervention in Agriculture has received around 5,200 applications for subsidies amounting to about 880 million lei throughout 2014. A number of 1,050 applications amounting to 110 million lei were registered in the last week of October.

The subsidy fund for farmers for 2014 amounts to over half a billion lei.
