Civil status documents to be available electronically in Moldova in next three years

Chisinau, 17 November /MOLDPRES/ - All civil status documents will be available in electronic format in Moldova in the next three years, and not just on paper, as it currently is. The second phase of digitalisation of the 1945 - 2014 archive fund was launched today in Chisinau. To this end, the World Bank has allocated a grant of about 750,000 dollars.

Justice Minister Oleg Efrim during a press conference today said that, thus, registry office employees would work more rapidly. "Public services offered by the state will improve, there will be no more queues at the Civil Service. This will also reduce the risk of corruption," said Efrim.

Civil Status Service Director Lucia Ciobanu said that after the completion of the first phase of the project, 4,8 million documents from the 1911-1944  archives were electronically created. In the second stage, approximately 9 million civil status documents will be digitalised. The first stage of the project was implemented by an Estonian company. The second phase will be conducted by an association of companies from Romania.

At the same time, the list of electronic services was extended today. Thus, Moldovan citizens who have a digital signature will be able to request another 12 documents on the www.servicii.gov.md site. These include - certificates of birth, marriage, divorce, death, adoption, name or surname changes, excerpts of these documents.
