Chisinau, 19 November /MOLDPRES/ - The quota of the Moldovan-Romanian trade exchanges got over 1.2 billion dollars in the first nine months of 2014 and reached a new record, according to a press release by the Romanian embassy in Moldova.
The quota of the trade exchanges between the two states has doubled over the past 5 years and recorded a faster increase, after Russia closed its market for more Moldovan products. Romania ranked first among Moldova's commercial partners, after a rise-up of 24 per cent of the trade exchanges in the first three quarters. The statistics, based on which the embassy operates, also include the eastern districts.
The imports from Romania increased to over 832 million dollars, on the rise by 25.62 per cent against the same period in 2013, whereas the exports from Moldova to 367.51 million dollars, increasing by 19.67 per cent.
„The rise-up of the quotas of the bilateral trade is also a beneficent consequence of the signing of the Moldova-European Union Association Agreement, which contributed to speed up the structural reforms in the Moldovan economy and society,” the communiqué reads.
”The European integration is the single option, which can bring prosperity, liberty and dignity to the citizens of Moldova. Romania continues to be firmly engaged to support this desideratum,” Romanian Ambassador to Moldova Marius Lazurca said.
The statistical data show that, in the first three quarters of 2014, Moldova ranked fourth as regards the trade exports of Romania with non-EU member states. The Romanian-Moldovan joint ventures, registered till 30 September 2014, are in a number of 4,374, with a total capital of 43.14 million dollars invested in Romania.
