Council of Europe, EU to launch support project on combating corruption in Moldova

Chisinau, 19 November /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Foreign and European Integration Minister Iulian Groza today met with representatives of the Economic Crime Division of the Council of Europe (CoE), the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.
The experts are on an assessment mission to finalise a new project on assistance in preventing and combating corruption in Moldova, which will be implemented in the next three years by the CoE, with the financial support of the European Union. The project will contribute to the implementation of the Action Plan to support democratic reforms in Moldova, launched by the Council of Europe in 2013.
Deputy Minister Iulian Groza welcomed the joint initiative of the CoE and the European Union, given that the Moldovan authorities as well as society as a whole, pay special attention to the efforts to prevent and combat corruption. To this effect, the key needs of the national authorities in this field were reviewed, taking into account the priorities set out by the EU - Moldova Association Agenda for the period 2014-2017.
In the context of the mission, the CoE delegation will meet with representatives of the EU Delegation to Moldova, National Anti-Corruption Centre, Interior Ministry, Justice Ministry, Prosecutor General's Office, National Integrity Commission, Agency for Public Procurement and other relevant national authorities as well as experts from civil society in Moldova.
