Moldovan PM attends public debate on elections

Chisinau, 19 November /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Iurie Leanca today participated in public debates, organized by the IPN News Agency and Radio Moldova. The event was focused on on levers of society to control the government before, during and after elections : traditions, local practices and European standards, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
Attending the event was also permanent expert of the project, director of ADEPT Association for Participatory Democracy Igor Botan. The main topics of the debate were related to cooperation of the state institutions with the civil society and instruments, the government’s role in good organization of free and fair elections and importance of maintaining European integration.
In his speech, Leanca touched upon the impact of taking over the western model of governance. “The European political, economic and social system assimilated a very important thing – the fact that a person with his rights and aspirations is within the activity of state institutions and not vice versa. Such model we want”. Also, Leanca stressed the benefits of Moldova’s accession to the EU – “a project of peace and law”, as it was pointed out by President of the European Parliament Hans-Gert Pottering in Chisinau.
