Polish, Ukrainian presidents urge Moldova to continue European path

Chisinau, 20 November /MOLDPRES/ - Polish and Ukrainian Presidents Bronisław Komorowski and, respectively, Petro Poroshenko, on an official joint visit to Moldova, conveyed a message of support to Moldova's European path today. 

During a jointly held news conference, Moldovan President Nicolae Timofti said that he discussed with the two officials issues referring to the cooperation between the three states, European agenda and latest events in the region. „I found out that a friendship and cooperation tie is enhancing between Moldova, Poland and Ukraine. I reconfirm Moldova's firm position towards the territorial integrity of Ukraine and for the European option which the Ukrainian nation reconfirmed during the recent elections. All those three countries share the same European values,” Timofti said. 

For his part, Bronisław Komorowski said that Poland would back Moldova as regards the continuation of reforms and getting closer to EU. „We wish Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia to find their own way towards the West. I am confident that the European integration will never be against some people or countries, on the contrary it is for a better future of all nations. We wish the European path bring you every success,” the official said. 

Petro Poroshenko said that there was no alternative to the European integration. Poroshenko added that the parliamentary election from 30 November were very important for Moldova. „The Ukrainians showed during the polls that they support the European integration. This thing creates conditions for European reforms. I am confident that the pro-European Moldova will always be by our side. We have a lot of things to do together,” the official said. 

Nicolae Timofti decorated the two officials with the Order of the Republic.
