Moldovan national army contingent continues mission in Kosovo

Chisinau, 20 November /MOLDPRES/ - Moldovan militaries within the Kosovo Force (KFOR) operation carry out missions specific to the operations theatre ensuring the security of the Pech-based Camp Vilaggio Italy and patrolling different areas of the region daily.
According to the contingent commander, Lieutenant Colonel Boris Macovei, the bomb squad conducts research on Mokra Gora mountain, in order to identify and destroy explosives, remaining in the soil in the armed conflict's aftermath. "Since the beginning of the mission our engineers have researched about 10 of the 65 envisaged hectares. So far, a large number of shrapnel and fragments of projectiles and missiles has been found. The Moldovan soldiers verified two helicopter landing pads and one patrol route near the Camp Villagio base", said Boris Macovei.
Simultaneously, the Moldovan contingent participates in various training sessions with the Italian soldiers to execute rapid response and crowd control missions.
The second Moldovan contingent, deployed to the KFOR mission on 6 September, is made up of 40 soldiers, including 32 infantry soldiers, seven engineers and one general staff officer.
