Chisinau, 20 November /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Iurie Leanca discussed with the presidents of Ukraine and Poland, Bronisław Komorowski and Petro Poroshenko about bilateral cooperation, European agenda and latest developments in the region today in Chisinau, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.

The officials talked about amplifying political dialogue, deepening economic cooperation, in particular strengthening energy security and modernising the border infrastructure with EU support. The sides found that a positive and dynamic friendship relation has developed among the three countries.

Premier Iurie Leanca said the visit of the two heads of state was crucial for the future of the region. "I consider this visit to be a sign of support for Moldova's efforts to build a democratic, European, stable country, contributing to the security all sides want in the region”, said the Moldovan prime minister.

At the same time, Iurie Leanca welcomed Ukraine's effort to continue its European path. "We share the same European values with the Ukrainian people and we rely on the continued support of Poland and other EU countries to carry out modernisation reforms, to achieve our common goal - EU membership," said Iurie Leanca.

For his part, Polish President Bronisław Komorowski, said that his visit to Chisinau was a sign of solidarity with Moldova and its West-oriented policy. "Poland has been an EU member country for ten years and because of this our country and every citizen is freer, richer and aware that they live safer in a better world. We wish Moldova the same thing and we will provide full support to this effect", said Bronisław Komorowski.

President Petro Poroshenko said the visit showed how important the situation in Moldova was for Ukraine. "We came to show our support for Moldova's future. Your government made many concrete steps. We saw better roads, schools and hospitals and I hope that people appreciate that, "said the Ukrainian president.

The official said that the Ukrainians understood that, for a better life, there was no alternative to the European Union. "We have many things to do together - collaborating in security, Transnistrian conflict settlement or improving the economic situation," said Petro Poroshenko.

Ukrainian and Polish Presidents Petro Poroshenko and Bronisław Komorowski are on an official visit to Moldova.

Iurie Leanca and Petro Poroshenko also travelled to Balti, where they laid flowers at the monument to Taras Shevchenko, visited the House of the Ukrainian community and the Vasile Alecsandri National Theatre. The two officials discussed with representatives of the Ukrainian Diaspora and students.
