More young people in Moldova enrolled at universities in the US choose to take post-graduate studies. At the same time, nine American students studied in Moldova, 12.5 per cent more than the previous year.
According to Education USA Regional Director Ann Merrill, "the United States remains a preferred destination for students from Moldova because of the quality and prestige associated with education in the US". According to a press release by the US Embassy in Chisinau, a major factor is the free access to accurate and comprehensive information about studying in the US and increased activity of the colleges and universities to attract students from Moldova.
The report, released to celebrate the 15th International Education Week, shows that the number of international students at US universities and colleges increased by 8 per cent and reached 886,052 in the academic year 2013-2014. US hosts most international students, of the total number of 4.5 million, with a figure double against that of the UK, which comes second in the top.
