Chisinau, 21 November /MOLDPRES/- On 20 November, the Joint Control Commission (JCC) continued the talks on including the issue related to the free movement of citizens in the Security Zone on the agenda, the Moldovan delegation to the JCC has reported.
Despite approaching this problem, the power wielding forces from Tiraspol further enhance the provocative actions on creating impediments to movement of people and transport, fortification of infrastructure and military presence at the segment of joint peacekeeping mechanism. The Moldovan delegation to the JCC expressed concern about the problems faced by the residents of Dorotchaia village, Dubasari district.
Also, the participants held talks on the works carried out without JCC’s consent at the Dubasari-based Hydroelectric Plant, where fortification construction and guard post had been installed, thus blocking transition and people’s access there.
The Moldovan delegation believes that the actions were fitted into a string of challenges generated by the Transnistrian forces, meant to destabilize the situation in the Security Zone and to ignore the agreement on the principles of peaceful settlement of the armed conflict in the Transnistrian region of 21 July 1992, the basic documents of peacekeeping operation and JCC decisions.
To redress the situation and unblock the JCC’s activity, the Moldovan delegation proposed to assess the observance of provisions of the Article No 5 of the agreement of 21.07.1992 and to monitor the Security Zone by the experts of OSCE, Russia and Ukraine.
This proposal was also groundlessly rejected by the Transnistrian delegation, which has blocked the JCC’s activity more than five months and negatively affects functioning the peacekeeping mechanism, as being impossible the consideration of the current situation and evolutions in the Security Zone.
The Moldovan delegation to JCC asked the participants in the peacekeeping operations in the Transnistrian region to ensure observance of the principles set in the agreement of 21 July 1992 related to remove all impediments in the free movement of people, goods and services.
