Chisinau, 24 November /MOLDPRES/ - The quota of Moldovan agro-food products exports to the European Union significantly increased in September-October 2014, following the temporary implementation of the provisions of the Association Agreement starting from 1 September. The Expert-Grup Independent Analytical Centre made public the data at a today conference.

Thus, in September-October 2014 against the same period of 2013,the exports of Moldovan wines to EU increased by 26 per cent, apples - by 2.7 folds, plums - by 8.1 folds, table grapes - by 5.8 folds, frozen sweet corn  - by over 3 folds and cereals – by 77 per cent. The above centre's head, Adrian Lupusor, said that, besides the rise of exports quotas, the number of companies which exported goods to EU also increased.

Expert Tatiana Savva said that, once the Association Agreement signed, the Moldovan farmers would save annually over 11.2 million euros as a result of lifting up of tariff barriers, money that they, subsequently, would be able to invest in development. At the same time, Moldova got access to a market of over 500 million consumers and will be able to benefit from financial resources provided by EU to restructure the agricultural sector.

The Moldova - European Union Association Agreement was signed at the end of June 2014 and has been temporary implemented starting from 1 September 2014.
