Chisinau, 24 November /MOLDPRES/- Moldovan police today received a consignment of 900 high-tech phones, 100 tablets and 200 computers from the Chinese government. These devices will help policemen quickly document traffic accidents and contraventions.
The phones and tablets comprise a special application, through which, during a road accident, inspectors on the spot may send all the needed information, accompanied by photos and video, to the offices in charge in due time.
Interior Minister Dorin Recean said that, due to these devices, the documentation time for traffic accidents would be shortened from one hour and a half to 15 minutes.
“Thanks to the pictures that can be taken with these devices on the site of the accident, digital measurements could be done, which will significantly reduce the time for police to get this data,” Recean said.
The head of the Monitoring and Traffic Control Centre, Dan Chirita, said the new devices would be used for documenting illegal car parkings. The drivers will receive a notification on the committed infringement, accompanied by photos.
The police will start using the new devices in early 2015. The consignment is estimated at about 1.2 million dollars.
