Moldovan electoral body approves testing voting for electors with visual disabilities

Chisinau, 25 November /MOLDPRES/- The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has approved testing of voting for electors with visual disabilities, without being assisted by a caregiver in the polling booth, at the 30 November parliamentary elections.
According to CEC, the testing will take place by using envelope templates in 56 polling stations of Moldova and one from abroad (Timisoara, Romania). The decision was approved to provide people with visual impairments opportunity to fully exercise their electoral rights and benefit from the latter to the same extent as other citizens of Moldova.
The testing will be organised by the Alliance of Access to Information and Training Community Centres from Moldova, in partnership with the Motivatie (Motivation) Association of Moldova, Deaf Association and Centre of Legal Assistance for Disabled People.
