Chisinau, 26 November /MOLDPRES/- Members of a criminal group ANTIFA intended to prepare actions meant to destabilize the situation in Moldova, by organizing violent protests following the 30 November polls. Prosecutor Viorel Morari and deputy head of the General Police Inspectorate, Gheorghe Cavcaliuc, made statements to this effect today.
Morari said that, during searches made today morning, more weapons, ammunition, as well as plans of access to public institutions, such as: Central Electoral Commission or National Television, were discovered in 15 dwellings of the suspects.
“It is supposed that the suspects planned an eventual attack against these institutions. Investigations were made in Chisinau-based locations, as well as in other settlements, such as Ialoveni, Balti and Soroca”, Morari said.
For his part, Cavcaliuc pointed out that the group would also include teachers of higher education institutions, who were luring students in need to post leaflets. “They may be easily manipulated and would be willing to participate in violent attacks, if necessary," he said.
The law enforcement bodies noted that the investigations would continue.
The suspects are investigated for organizing a criminal ring and attempt to destabilise the social and political situation in Moldova. They run the risk of being imprisoned for 15 years.
