Chisinau, 27 November /MOLDPRES/ - The Institute of Emergency Medicine today opened two new blocks. The project’s cost is estimated at 300 million lei (15 million euros). The National Health Insurance Company, Health Ministry and a grant from the Japanese government funded the project.
Health Minister Andrei Usatii today said that the creation of the Reanimation block and Treatment block number 4 were part of the National Programme for the Development of Emergency Medical Assistance. The programme provides for supplying new special vehicles and construction of a heliport to transport patients in the best conditions.
According to the minister, the block number 4 was erected up to the roof in 1992. Yet, because of the lack of money, the works were ceased for a period of 22 years. Given that the building was designed according to Soviet safety standards, fundamental redesign and reconstruction works were needed to adapt the rooms, so they be fitted the modern medical equipment, brought from abroad.
Block number 4 includes the following sections: neurology, neurosurgery, urology, gynaecology, ophthalmology, otolaryngology and sterilisation. In these sections, the functional diagnosis of pathologies will run in automatic regime, with the involvement of physicians who carried out internships in Europe and Japan. The new sections are equipped with new and high-tech medical equipment, furniture and special beds for intensive care.
