Chisinau, 28 November /MOLDPRES/- The OSCE Mission in Moldova today hosted the 2014 final meeting of the Human Rights Club for lawyers from the two banks of Dniester. The event was the last from a string of six meetings organised in 2014, three of which took place in Chisinau and the other three – in Tiraspol, according to a press release by the Mission.
More than 50 lawyers of the two banks of Dniester participated in the event. They addressed issues referring to residents' documentation, up-to-date problems and mechanisms to solve them. The participants also approached the way the juridical community of the two banks might cooperate, in order to provide the needed legal assistance and, at the same time, to raise the people's awareness.
„We are happy with the increased interest and enthusiasm towards this initiative, showed by professionals of the juridical sector of the two banks and their willingness to share and compare the mutual experience in practical legal issues, as well as to learn one from each other,” Head of OSCE Mission to Moldova, Ambassador Michael Scanlan said.
The above-mentioned club is a forum of talks for lawyers of the two banks of Dniester, created by the OSCE Mission in 2013, in cooperation with the Norwegian Mission of Rule of Law Advisors to Moldova (NORLAM), in order to share experience and practice between professionals of the area.
The event is part of a one-year project, which facilitates, via different activities, setting up of ties between local professionals of the two banks of Dniester in terms of the practical legal problems, as well as support for developing the civil society from the Transnistrian region.
