Over 4,000 local, foreign observers to monitor parliamentary polls in Moldova

Chisinau, 29 November /MOLDPRES/ - Over 4,000 observers will monitor the parliamentary polls on 30 November.
The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has informed that 3,192 national observers of 24 organisations will monitor the elections, out of which 229 people will represent six contenders, who will monitor the electoral process at the polling stations set outside Moldova.
CEC also accredited 816 persons from 57 foreign organisations as international observers. Over 500 people of these will be delegated by 11 international governmental institutions, including OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE/ODIHR) and members of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly. Another about 150 observers will represent 13 NGOs from 9 countries. Eighteen diplomatic missions accredited to Moldova will delegate about 120 observers to the polls. Another 38 observers will be authorised by 15 electoral authorities.
The accredited persons will carry out their work based on the Moldovan Constitution, Electoral Code, and Regulation on observer’s statute and accreditation, approved by CEC, as well as on the international treaties to which Moldova is part.
