Polling stations for parliamentary elections opened in Moldova

Chisinau, 30 November /MOLDPRES/- Today is day for the parliamentary elections in Moldova. About 2,000 polling stations were opened at 07:00 and will close at 21:00. Over 3.2 million citizens with the right to vote are expected at polls.

Over 3.1 million ballot papers have been prepared for the elections. Voters will be able to vote on the basis of the identity card, temporary card and service card for conscripts. 

The voters will have to elect one of those 24 electoral contenders - 19 political parties, one electoral block and four independent candidates. The Patria Political Party has the mention "withdrawn" on the list.

The ballot paper has a length of 60 cm. Symbol of the electoral contender is pointed out on the left , in the centre - his name, and on the right - a circle where the voter will apply the stamp with "voted".

Citizens with the right to vote from abroad will be able to elect at the 95 polling stations opened outside the country on the basis of the valid passport or the expired one, regardless of their registration.

Moldovans residing in the administrative-territorial units from the left bank of the Dniestre, in Bender municipality and some settlements of Causeni district, will be able to vote at 26 polling stations opened in Chisinau, Dubasari, Causeni, Anenii Noi, Balti, Cahul, Criuleni, Floresti, Rezina and Stefan Voda.

For the first time ever, the election equipment of the polling stations were standardized for elections. Thus, each station will have at least two stationary ballot boxes and a mobile one. The secret voting booths will be white. Each polling station will have a voting booth for disabled people. At the same time, the State Register of Voters will be used at the polls for the first time.

About 18,000 electoral officials will be involved for proper development and organisation of the polls. Over 4,000 observers will monitor the elections. At the same time, about 4,600 policemen will ensure public order near polling stations.
