Moldovan electoral body informs about 55.86-per cent voter turnout

Chisinau, 30 November /MOLDPRES/ - The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has said the voter turnout was of 55.86 per cent of the electors included in the lists at the parliamentary polls which ended at 21:00.  

CEC head Iurie Ciocan specified that 1,560,000 voters had cast their ballots today. "The highest participation rate was recorded in the Chisinau municipality - 62.47 per cent. As many as 59 per cent of the electors voted in Balti and - about 49 per cent in the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia," Ciocan said. 

He said that four polling stations had asked for the extension of the voting time to serve all the electors. 

The voter turnout stood at 58.99 per cent at 21:00 during the parliamentary elections from 28 November 2010.
