Moldovan speaker meets CIS IPA representatives

Chisinau, 1 December /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Igor Corman today met the Observers’ Mission to the Commonwealth of Independent States Inter-parliamentary Assembly (CIS IPA), which participated in monitoring the parliamentary polls in Moldova, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
The officials exchanged views about the way the 30 November parliamentary elections were organised. The head of the above-mentioned mission, Deputy Chair of the Commission for Human Rights to the Kirgiz parliament Abdijapar Bekmatov presented to Corman the conclusions of the report on monitoring the parliamentary polls in Moldova.
The mission considers that the parliamentary elections were held, in general, transparently, according to the Moldovan legislation in force and international standards on organising polls, which ensured the free will of Moldovan citizens.
Igor Corman said that the providing of the political stability in Moldova continued to be a priority. Corman added that, in order to strengthen the Moldovan society, sound ruling political forces, able to ensure better living conditions to citizens, were necessary. Corman highlighted that the elections preliminary results confirmed the fact that the Moldovans considered that, in order to modernise Moldova, we should continue both to getting closer to EU, by implementing the Association Agreement, and to develop the cooperation and friendship ties with the traditional eastern partners. In the context, Igor Corman specified that the CSI IPA was an opportunity to develop the inter-parliamentary collaboration.
The mentioned mission is made up of 33 observers from 7 countries: Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kirgizstan, Russia, and Tajikistan.
