European Union welcomes parliamentary elections in Moldova

Chisinau, 2 December /MOLDPRES/- The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini and European Commissioner for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn made a joint declaration on 1 December, welcoming development of parliamentary elections in Moldova.
Under the declaration, the EU took note of the report issued by OSCE observers, which reads "the Moldovan parliamentary elections gathered a wide range of political alternatives and were well managed, even if removing a candidate shortly before the election raises many questions".
The declaration sees the EU looks forward the rapid formation of a new government, as well as of a constructive opposition.
"The EU will remain a reliable partner for supporting the reforms in Moldova and will do its utmost the citizens to fully benefit from the provisions of the Association Agreement with the EU", the declaration reads.
At the same time, "EU will continue to cooperate with the future government for solving the Transnistrian conflict, preserving the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Moldova and providing a special status to the region from left bank of the Dniestre".
