Moldovan electoral body presents final report on parliamentary polls

Chisinau, 5 December /MOLDPRES/ - The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) approved the final report and report on the results of the 30 November parliamentary polls at a today meeting. Under the documents, five political formations, namely the Party of Socialists (PSRM), Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM), Party of Communists (PCRM), Democratic Party (PDM) and Liberal Party (PL), will make it to the parliament.
According to the CEC data, PSRM picked up 20.51 per cent of votes, PLDM - 20.16 per cent, PCRM – 17.48 per cent, PDM – 15.8 per cent and PL – 9.67 per cent of the ballots. The other contenders did not meet the electoral threshold, in order enter the parliament.
In accordance with the results obtained, PSRM got most mandates, 25. PLDM comes next with 23 mandates and PCRM with 21 mandates. PDM got 19 mandates and PL 13. The three pro-European parties, which entered the parliament with 55 mandates, PLDM, PDM and PL, have already agreed to create a parliamentary majority.
The final report and the one on the polls' outcomes are to be presented to the Constitutional Court, which is to confirm the results of the elections and validate the MPs' mandates. The new parliament is to hold its first meeting in 30 days after the polls at the latest, i.e. till the end of 2014.
