Moldovan MP dies

Chisinau, 9 December /MOLDPRES/ - Liberal Democrat (PLDM) MP Ion Butmalai died at his home in southern Cahul town today, according to information confirmed by police.

The Cahul-based guard unit has said the tragedy occurred at the MP's home at around 12:00.

Early versions of the investigation report the victim could have shot himself. The police are currently carrying out investigations at the scene.

Ion Butmalai was 50 years old and had been a PLDM lawmaker since 2009. He served as Cahul district head in 2007-2008.
