Prosecutors open criminal file for murder in case of Moldovan MP

Chisinau, 10 December /MOLDPRES/ - The Cahul district prosecutor's office has opened a criminal file for murder in case of Liberal Democrat (PLDM) MP Ion Butmalai, found shot at his home on 9 December.
The prosecutors said the lawmaker’s body had been found in an extension of the house (enlargement of the garage). Butmalai had a wound in the left side of the chest. Two cartridge cases and a pistol legally held by Butmalai were also found at the scene.
A handwritten “goodbye letter”, the authenticity of which is to be additionally checked, was also found in the house.
The autopsy showed that the cause of the death had been a transfixing gunshot wound in the left side of the chest. No other injury was discovered.
The criminal prosecution is led by the Cahul district prosecutor's office, with the inquiry due to establish all circumstances of the case.
