Moldovan PM's statements at today cabinet meeting

„Dear colleagues,

Today, we are to observe a formal procedure. Yet,  this does not detract from the special character of this meeting. You know that, according to the Law on government, in the context of the election of a new parliament, the cabinet is to resign.

Today, the government will practically resign when we reach item number ten on the agenda and the request will be examined, and, I assume, accepted at the first meeting of the newly elected parliament. This does not mean that we no longer have to fulfill duties of managing public affairs.

In this context, personally, as prime minister, I want to thank you, colleagues, members of the government, for the fact that we managed to create a positive atmosphere, a constructive atmosphere, and thus, with team spirit, that I have been always feeling, even facing problems, we managed to successfully carry through more things started in 2009.

If not for this team spirit, we would not have been able to sign and implement the Association Agreement and the Free Trade Agreement, to witness the opening of the European market for Moldovan products and a flow of much bigger investments; and this is only a start.

The same goes for rural areas, where eternity was born; people could benefit especially from more social projects: restored kindergartens, schools, libraries, culture houses, rehabilitated roads and aqueducts, opened medical centres. And I cannot but refer to the Museum of Fine Arts and finding money to repair the Organ Hall with the help of our friends from Bucharest, as well as the Cahul-based National Theatre.

I want to thank all those who contributed to what we had done.

Certainly, the homework remains valid and continuity will be the key principle to guide the next Cabinet of ministers. Thus, on the good and solid foundation we built, the next government must raise the walls and roof of a strong, European Moldova, and - I want to insist, in particular, - a clean Moldova.
