American, National Army artillery specialists end excercise in northern Moldovan district

Chisinau, 13 December /MOLDPRES/ - National Army artillerymen and US Marine Corps troops participated in a workshop on anti-tank operations on 8-12 December. The workshop ended at the Moldova brigade military training centre, Balti municipality on 12 December.

Attending the event, Defence Minister Valeriu Troenco said that these courses, like the previous ones, contributed to forming a strong partnership between the two armies, increasing interoperability and an exchange of experience with the US servicemen.

For his part, the leader of the US Marine Corps team, Lt. Col. Joel Schmidt, thanked the leadership of the Defence Ministry and General Staff of the National Army as well as his fellow servicemen, for their efforts in planning, organising and successfully carrying out the training exercises.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Nicolae Dreglea, responsible for conducting the workshop, the agenda included theoretical sessions during which participants learned techniques of using American and National Army weapons.

The source said that the training also included practical sessions during which Moldovan soldiers, together with their American counterparts, fired man-portable anti-tank systems provided by the US Marine Corps.

The Anti-Tank Operations workshop brought together soldiers from the Moldova, Stefan cel Mare and Dacia motorised infantry brigades, and from the 22nd peacekeeping battalion of the National Army as well as servicemen from the US Marine Corps deployed at the Mihail Kogalniceanu military base in Constanta, Romania.
