Moldovan president receives accreditation letters from three ambassadors

Chisinau, 16 December /MOLDPRES/ - President Nicolae Timofti received credentials from three ambassadors at the state residence today, the presidency's press service has reported.
These are: Latvian Ambassador Juris Poikans, Kiev –based Japanese Ambassador Shigeki Sumi, and Bucharest-based Egyptian Ambassador Mohamed Aly Shawky Alaaeldin Elhadidi.
At the meeting with the Latvian diplomat, the president expressed confidence that next year's takeover of the EU Council Presidency by Latvia, as well as the holding of the Eastern Partnership Summit in Riga in May 2015 would help boost Moldova’ European integration.
Latvian Ambassador Juris Poikans said the enforcement of the Association Agreement with EU by the Chisinau-based authorities was necessary to strengthen the country’s democratic institutions and economic development.
Ambassador Juris Poikans expressed confidence that the forthcoming visit of the Latvian President Andris Berzins to Chisinau would help foster the bilateral relations.
During the meeting with the Japanese Ambassador Shigeki Sumi, President Nicolae Timofti advocated turning into account the economic and trade potential between the two countries. Nicolae Timofti expressed the Moldovan authorities’ interest to attract investments of Japanese companies in the national economy.
Japanese Ambassador Shigeki Sumi said his country would provide technical and financial assistance needed to ensure Moldova’s sustainable development and maintain a climate of stability in the region.
At the meeting, Egyptian Ambassador Mohamed Aly Shawky Alaaeldin Elhadidi and President Nicolae Timofti agreed to bolster cooperation in areas of common interest, especially in agriculture, education and tourism.
