Chisinau hosts Moldovan-Russian consular consultations

Chisinau, 18 December /MOLDPRES/- Moldovan-Russian consultations at the level of heads of consular services at the foreign ministries of the two states were held in Chisinau on 17 December, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s communication and media relations service has reported.
The participants in the consultations considered important issues on bilateral cooperation in the consular sector, pointing out the problems concerning the protection of rights and interests of citizens in both states. At the same time, they the sides issues of the need to better inform the citizens about the national legislation on stay regime in the two countries.
A special topic was focused on the decision of Russia’s Federal Migration Service on amending the mechanism of exit/entry to Russia for the Moldovans, who exceeded the limit of stay in the concerned state, provided for in the Russian legislation. The Moldovan delegation stressed that such a decision had created only confusion and had not contributed to solving the problems faced by Moldovans temporarily staying in Russia. The Russian side was not able to present the legal basis for the decision this time either.
After consultations, the sides agreed to continue the dialogue and bilateral cooperation, to identify the best solutions to consolidate the activity in consular sector, as well as to hold the next round of consular consultations in Moscow in 2015.
