Moldovan premier, European Commissioner broach reforms, support

Chisinau, 18 December /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Iurie Leanca met European Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn in Brussels today. The officials tackled the speeding up of reforms in Moldova, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The sides addressed the results of the parliamentary polls held in Moldova on 30 November and prospects of Moldova’s European path.
Johannes Hahn underlined the importance to boost reforms, especially in the sector of justice and fight against corruption, as well as the ensuring of a sustainable economic development, which would assure better quality of people’s life.
Hahn highlighted the European Union’s willingness to foster its support in the justice reform in 2015, by focusing on making more efficient the activity of judges, prosecutors and anticorruption officers.
In the context, Iurie Leanca stressed that the new coalition of the pro-European parties was set to achieve all commitments on the European agenda and would need EU’s full support in this respect. The first occasion to set concrete actions, which to give a fresh impetus to reforms in more sectors such as: justice, banking sector, fighting corruption and decentralisation, will be the first meeting of the Association Council, which is to be organised on 19 January 2015.
The officials also referred to Moldova’s passing to the EU pre-accession and accession stages.
