Moldovan foreign minister meets more German officials

Chisinau, 18 December /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Natalia Gherman, on a working visit to Berlin on 17-18 December, met more German MPs, among whom the head of the parliamentary commission for European affairs, Günther Krichbaum, the head of the parliamentary commission for foreign affairs, Norbert Roettgen, and a member of the parliamentary commission for finances, coordinator for relations with Moldova at the Bundestag, Hans Michelbach, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.
The MPs congratulated the Moldovan official on the results achieved by the pro-European parties in the 30 November parliamentary elections and reiterated their openness for cooperation and dialogue, in order to further attain the Moldovan-German joint goals and ensure Moldova’s European integration. The officials reviewed the stage and prospects of the bilateral ties. Gherman underlined the special nature of the partnership relation with Germany and the recently recorded notable progress, via multidimensional bilateral contacts. For their part, the German lawmakers praised the progress made by Moldova in implementing the Association Agreement with the European Union and assured the Moldovan minister of the speeding up of its ratification till the Eastern Partnership Summit due in May 2015. The sides paid special attention to the initiative on transfer of judiciary expertise.
Natalia Gherman also met Advisor on Foreign and Security Policy to the Federal Chancellor Christoph Heusgen. The officials broached Moldova’s European prospect and regional situation. Heusgen reiterated the support provided to Moldova.
At the same time, Gherman held a meeting with Director Executive of the Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations Rainer Lindner. The officials stressed the need to implement reforms in the justice sector, in order to ensure a friendly investment environment in Moldova and highlighted the continuous ascendant dynamic of the trade exchanges, once the Moldova-EU Association Agreement started being implemented.
On visit, Natalia Gherman gave a lecture on Moldova’s European prospect after the parliamentary polls. The event was organised by the Berlin-based European Academy, in partnership with the Friedrich Naumann Foundation. Gherman also gave more interviews to German media representatives.
