Chisinau, 19 December /MOLDPRES/ - The Joint Control Commission (JCC) held its last meeting of 2014 in Bender on 18 December. The meeting was presided over by the Russian delegation, the Bureau for reintegration has reported.
During discussions on formulating the meeting's agenda, Moldova's delegation insisted on including the topic concerning the free movement of people in the Security Zone. The delegation referred to the latest incident, which took place on 18 December, when a team of the Publika TV channel was groundlessly denied access to the JCC meeting by the Transnistrian power wielding forces, even if the TV channel had the needed accreditation. The incident was not settled, and the journalists were allowed to go only after a direct involvement of the Moldovan delegation.
Despite the fact that, at the Commission's meeting, the delegations did not have a common item on formulating the agenda, the Moldovan side declared for diffusing the situation and ensuring a climate of mutual trust within the JCC's work.
Moldova's delegation pointed to the non-fulfillment by the Transnistrian delegation of the promise to return a personal vehicle to a police captain, Veaceslav Ghenciu, member of the joint inquiry group of the Bender-based police inspectorate. The vehicle was taken away illegally by the Tiraspol power wielding forces on 29 November 2014. The Moldovan side handed an appeal on the issue to the JCC delegations.
In the end of the meeting, the JCC co-heads sincerely congratulated the peacekeepers on Christmas and the New Year. At the same time, the participants in the meeting took a decision on carrying out visits to Security Zone posts on 30 December, in order to inspect the degree of preparation of the peacekeepers for winter, and at the same time, to give the peacekeepers presents on behalf of all the JCC components on the occasion of the winter holidays.
The next meeting will be organised on 15 January 2015.
