Chisinau, 21 December /MOLDPRES/- More filling stations cheapened the price for petrol and diesel oil by over 0.20 lei per litre on the night of 21 December. The pump prices for the most demanded petrol Premium diminished to 17.37 lei per litre against 17.60 lei before. The filling stations also announced new prices for Euro diesel oil of 16.37 lei per litre.
This is the second cheapening in a row this week and the fourth consecutive cut-off in prices of petrol and diesel oil starting from last October.
The petroleum companies reduced the price of the diesel oil and petrol down by 0.35 lei and, respectively, 0.30 lei per litre on 15 December.
The drivers were expecting a more significant cut in prices for these fuels, against the background of the developments on the international stock exchanges, where the petroleum barrel price reached the one recorded in the 2009 crisis. The price of the Brent crude fell down under 60 dollars per barrel for the first time starting from May 2009 so far, in conditions when producers give no signs of reducing the quantities.
The Brent crude price will probably continue to fall in 2015 too and might get to 50 dollars per barrel, according to Bloomberg survey. The Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, which supplies 40 per cent of necessary oil at global level, does not intend to reduce production.
On the other hand, Moldovan petroleum importers say they would inflict losses, if the prices further dropped, given that the Moldovan currency has depreciated by 20 per cent against the dollar starting from early 2014.
