Chisinau, 23 December /MOLDPRES/ - President Nicolae Timofti today summoned representatives of the parliamentary parties to a meeting, in order to discuss the date of the constitutive meeting of the parliament. After the meeting, they made press statements on the creation of a parliamentary majority.
Referring to the parliament’s constitutive meeting, due on 29 December, Zinaida Greceanii, who will lead the parliamentary faction of the Party of Socialists, said the meeting should have been held already. Communist MP Artur Resetnicov shared the same viewpoint.
As for the setting up of a parliamentary majority, the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party, Vlad Filat, said the talks on the issue between the Liberal Democrats, Democrats and Liberals continued and they were not simple at all. Filat voiced hope that, till the constitutive meeting of the parliament, the ruling coalition would be created.
“It is better to negotiate as much as it is necessary, in order to govern efficiently in the next four years and not to repeat certain mistakes. We communicate, meet as many times as necessary. The talks’ process has not been ceased. We discuss everything, including the name of the future coalition, programme, government’s structure, reforms,” Filat said. He added that the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM), Democratic Party (PDM) and Liberal Party (PL) should have discussions with the Party of Communists too.
Liberals’ leader Mihai Ghimpu also said the ruling coalition would be set up till the constitutive meeting of the parliament. PDM representatives made no statements.
Five parties made it to the parliament, following the 30 November parliamentary elections.
