Japan marks national day today

Chisinau, 23 December /MOLDPRES/ - Japan today marks its National Day - the Emperor's Birthday.
Japan is a state from Eastern Asia, situated on the islands of the Japanese Archipelago, of which four are the largest: Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu, and has 127.3 million residents.
This is a strongly developed country, and is placed on the first positions in the world, in terms of production of non-ferrous metals, naval constructions, cars, electro-technical apparatus.
Agriculture accounts for 1.6 per cent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), industry - 25.3 per cent and services - 73.1 per cent. Japan has large foreign trade with the USA, the United Kingdom, Germany, France and other countries.
The country exports ships, cars, machines and equipment, electric and photo devices, chemical products, textiles, and imports industrial and agricultural raw materials, fuels, cotton.
Moldova and Japan established diplomatic relations on 16 March 1992.
President Nicolae Timofti has recently received the letters of accreditation of Kiev-based Japanese Ambassador to Moldova Shigeki Sumi.
