Twenty six Moldovan settlements cut off electricity supply

Chisinau, 30 December /MOLDPRES/ - A number of 26 settlements from 11 districts have been partially disconnected from power supply because of the bad weather. Thus, villages from the districts of Anenii Noi, Causeni, Stefan Voda, Ialoveni, Hincesti, Criuleni, Cahul, Cantemir, Leova, Taraclia and Vulcanesti are in blackout, the Civil Protection and Emergency Situations Service has reported.
On the last night, rescuers managed to unlock over 170 vehicles on roads, with hundreds of people evacuated from blocked cars. The most difficult situation was recorded on local roads in the districts of Stefan Voda, Taraclia, Leova and Cahul. Thirty two persons were evacuated from blocked transport units on the Comrat - Visniovca road. More than 40 vehicles were got out of snow drifts on the highway Chisinau - Cimislia - Vulcanesti - Giurgiulesti.
Rescuers unlocked 54 touring cars, with 178 people, of whom 18 children, on the road segment Chisinau - Cimislia - Vulcanesti - Giurgiulesti. Traction works were carried out in the villages of Copanca and Gradinita, eastern Causeni district, Cornesti town, western Ungheni district, as well as the settlements Tudora, Palanca, Olanesti, Marianca de Jos and Caplani, south-eastern Stefan Voda district. Rescuers continue unlocking works on a road segment nearby the settlement Svetlii, southern Gagauz-Yeri Autonomous Territorial Unit, where 20 touring cars are still blocked, according to operative information.
