Chisinau, 30 December /MOLDPRES/- Romania will provide Moldova with five million euros to restore more kindergartens. Today, the cabinet ruled to start negotiations and approve the signing of an addendum to the cooperation programme for 2014 between the governments of the two countries.

Acting Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Natalia Gherman said the money would supplement an amount of 20 million euros, earlier offered by the Romanian government, to restore pre-university institutions of Moldova.

Prime Minister Iurie Leanca said that, according to assessments, about 20 million euros was needed to complete a project on modernisation of kindergartens. "The Romanian premier showed openness to continue the talks on the matter, so that our chances to get another 20 million euros are good. We will return to these issues after the formalisation of the parliamentary majority and formation of the new government in Chisinau", he said.

The cooperation programme for 2014 was approved under an agreement between the Moldovan and Romanian governments on implementation of a technical and financial assistance programme, which stipulates the providing of a 100-million euro-worth financial aid by Romania.
